Princess
This particular Princess was adopted by Greg and Iva Smith on 1-18-09. Greg is a doctor and Iva is a nurse who is now a stay-at-home mom to Princess and their Yorkie. The first night at their house Princess was skittish, but Iva sat on the kitchen floor with her for a long time, and ever since then she's had the run of the house. She's pretty good friends most of the time with the Yorkie, and they both sleep on the bed with Greg and Iva. Princess also is really crazy about Greg. We're so glad Princess is getting so much love and attention!
Farrah and Tara
Tara and Farrah were adopted by the Schuurmans family on 10-13-09. Astrid, their new mom, says they're doing very well. The Schuurmans had two kitties already, oldest cat Gypsy and younger cat Sawi. Gypsy is pretty accepting now, but Sawi is being a little more cautious, but I'm sure Tara and Farrah will win them over in no time.
Tara amd Farrah love to climb on everything and play a lot with little balls. There's a lot of soccer going on in this household. They love to follow the hamster around when he's in his hamster ball!
The Schuurmans children are exceptionally well behaved and spent a lot of time with Tara and Farrah up at Petco at the time of deciding to adopt them, and Mary Kay was very impressed with the kids. The kids love and spend a lot of time with Tara and Farrah, but mom Astrid says that the children absolutely remember to spend lots of time also with the two older cats that the Schuurmans already had, which is so very important. Kudos to Mr. and Mrs. Schuurmans for raising such wonderful and responsible children and being such wonderful animal owners! Congratulations, Tara and Farrah!
Princess
Princess, now Kid Kiddie, was adopted by Sandy on 10-12-09. Poor Sandy had to wait a while to get Princess because Sandy was going out of town for a few days, and then a day or two before Sandy came back into town, Princess got pretty sick with an upper respiratory infection and Mary Kay had to keep her another week.
Kid Kiddie and Sandy's Pomeranian are becoming friends now, but Kid likes to makes sure that Sammy knows that she rules the roost. She loves to sleep with Sandy at night (along with Sammy) and likes to wake Sandy up around 3:30 a.m. just to let Sandy know she loves her. Aaaawwwww!! Kid Kiddie loves to look out the windows when Sandy lifts the blinds. Kid Kiddie is not a shy kitty cat and welcomes Sandy's friends who come over. Sandy also has a friend who was not a cat person, but Kid Kiddie has convinced him otherwise and now he loves Kid Kiddie! We love hearing stories like this!
Andy
Andy and Opie were adopted by a lovely young woman named Sarah on 9-20-09. Sarah was concerned about whether her approximately 1-1/2-year-old cat Sadie would adjust to them. Well, it didn't take Sadie long to run and play with Andy and Opie! All three are having just a blast with each other! And Sadie especially loves to give Andy baths. We think Sadie is very happy that she has these two little playmates.
All three cats love to sleep with Sarah. When she sleeps on her back, they love to be on her stomach and vice versa. She loves to hear them purr!
Sarah also calls Andy and Opie Thing 1 and Thing 2 because they're so mischievous and always getting into everything! I think Andy and Opie found the perfect home!
Emily
I have had such incredible and wonderful adopters. Please do not be offended all of my wonderful adopters when I say that Emily is my MOST successful adoption story.
Emily was found as a three-pound adult with a dog bite and bad infection. I nursed her back to health and she was a pretty jolly cat when first at my house, but then she became very intimidated and unhappy with a multi-cat household. Emily never did well at adoptions. She was moody and scared of the cats around her. It basically became useless to take her to adoptions. If a cat can't go to adoptions, it lowers their chances of being adopted by about 99 percent. Unfortunately, just about the only cats that get adopted from the website are kittens.
I pretty much knew Emily would never get adopted. I had her for 3-1/2 years. She is a wonderful cat if she is not around multi, multi cats.
Jennifer, Emily's adopter, had to put her 18-1/2-year-old cat down. She was going to wait to get another cat, but her sister saw Emily on my website, and Emily looked a lot like Jennifer's cat, PJ, only PJ had long hair. Someone came to look at Emily about a year ago at my house, but she became frightened and acted like a really wild cat. I prepared Emily before Jennifer came over, and Emily actually did quite well.
I took Emily to sweet Jennifer's house Monday night, October 12th. Emily is actually doing quite well nine days later. Emily and Jennifer are a match made in heaven, and Jennifer's home is a dream home for a kitty that was going to be sentenced to living at my house, stressed by my other cats, and wanting to and never being able to sleep in the bed with me because she wouldn't stand up to the other cats. Emily has her own person and her own bed every night now and is taking advantage of it. This is what dreams are made of for a cat rescuer.
There are many other cats at my house just like Emily who do not show well at adoptions. People don't believe you when you say, "They're really very wonderful at home, just shy, and especially very shy at adoptions." They just don't believe you, even though I know EVERYTHING about the cats' personalities. I hope these wonderful cats will have a chance one day through a miracle (since they don't go to adoptions) like Jennifer. Thanks, Jennifer! You really did save a life!
