Commander
Commander (now Antonio) was adopted by Deborah on 12-5-10. Commander is a very confident cat and made himself at home from the day he came home with Deborah. Deborah's kitty is still getting used to Antonio, but Antonio and the dog are getting along just fine. Antonio is a real chow cat and has gained some weight. He wants to be in your lap and knead. Whatever lap is available is fine for him. And Deborah says, since she changed his name, it doesn't matter to Antonio what you call him as long as there's food and a lap somewhere! So glad Antonio got such a great home!
Cher
Cher (now Jezebel) was adopted by Johnnye and Bob on 1-2-11. They had adopted another Cats for Life cat, Jack, back in July and were also really attracted to little Jezebel, as she was quite active in the condo at Katy Petco. Jezebel pretty much made herself at home from the beginning and took over the household. Johnnye says she doesn't seem to need anybody but needs everybody. She is really attached to their three-year-old cat, Apollo, and likes to sleep with him. She saw the two of them sleeping together the other day in Bob's lap. Apollo really loves Jezebel. And Jack gets along with everybody too and does his own thing also. This is a very happy, harmonious household, and we're so glad Jack and Jezebel are so happy in their new home!
Contessa
Sweet Contessa (now Kate) was adopted by Lupe, John and their son on 12-13-10. I was afraid Contessa might be pretty shy, but she has done really well. She sleeps by Lupe's side while Camilla, their other kitty, sleeps by her feet. Kate and Camilla are starting to get along at this point, which is great. Kate was picked out by their son, but Kate is mostly following Lupe around because Lupe is home much of the day. Kate loves to be carried around and she purrs a lot. Lupe said she sounds like a tractor! Lupe says Kate is eating well and plays all the time and jumps all around. Lupe says they are so, so happy with Kate. I could tell Lupe was really quite taken by this little girl kitty, and nothing makes a foster mom more happy than that! Kate, you got a great home!
Hershey
Hershey was adopted by Elaine on 11-7-10, along with Spitfire (now Spiffy), who belonged to the elderly woman that Mary Kay has been helping for several years. We never got Spitfire on the website, but he's a darling 10 to 11-month old black kitty. Both were a little scared at first, but they are now lap kitties to Elaine. Elaine says both of them are so happy. She says they are both so terrific and it's like they've lived with her forever. I know that Hershey wanted so much more attention at my house than I could give her. Elaine says that Hershey and Spiffy are beginning to become friends and were chasing each other all over the house within about three weeks of her having them. Spiffy sings to Elaine and also kept her company recently in bed when Elaine was sick. Hershey lets the grandkids pet her now, and a couple of times Spiffy has let them pet him also. Elaine is very excited to have these two, and I know these two are very excited to have Elaine. What a perfect home for two perfect kitties. And I am so happy for all involved!
Janet
This is what Corrinn and Vernon have to say about their new baby:
"We adopted our new kitten, Madeleine A. Davis-Perry ('Maddy') on August 28, 2010, and we couldn't be happier about the love that she has brought to our family. She is the perfect companion for us and for our 6-year-old cat Emmy (aka Boo). It sealed the deal when we were visiting her at Petco with Mary Kay and, in the middle of playing with a feather toy, Madeleine fell asleep in Vernon's lap. (We were both officially in love with her from that moment!) Maddy has a big personality and is vocal, loving and insatiably playful. She will play until she literally falls asleep, and we've seen this multiple times. She is also a natural hunter and will stalk and hunt down practically anything that moves - even inanimate objects (especially feathers, tissue paper, sticky notes and skittles). When she isn't playing, she is a lap kitty who enjoys being showered with attention, and that is exactly what we wanted; she is a perfect complement to Emmy. We love that Maddy checks out the house and checks on us every night as if she has to make sure at 3:00 a.m. both of her parents are still alive and able to scratch her head! It has been a dream to see Emmy and Maddy playing (and play-fighting) together, and nothing makes us happier than seeing the two of them sleeping next to one another on one of their kitty trees. We couldn't be more grateful to Mary Kay and Cats for Life for making our Madeleine part of their family before we could make her part of ours. We love our kitties!"
Thanks, Corrinn and Vernon, for being such wonderful and loving kitty parents!
